Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte Starrer ‘Akka’ Trailer Out:
The official trailer for the highly anticipated Netflix crime-drama series ‘Akka’, starring powerhouse actors Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte in the lead roles, has officially been released. Written and directed by Dharmaraj Shetty, the series is produced by YRF Entertainment—the digital arm of Yash Raj Films—and is slated for a global premiere on Netflix on October 30.

Set against the backdrop of the 1980s in the fictional town of Pernuru, Akka explores a unique gangster universe where women have traditionally held the reins of power. The narrative unfolds in a society where generations of women have protected their lineage and authority. However, the arrival of an outsider disrupts the status quo, triggering intense conflicts. As loyalties, long-standing vendettas, and deep-rooted beliefs are put to the test, the very future of Pernuru hangs in the balance.
Keerthy Suresh stars as Bhavani, an uncompromising figure determined to protect her territory, heritage, and power at any cost, while Radhika Apte plays Rudra, a defiant force who questions the established systems and challenges the existing power equations of Pernuru to serve her own goals. The core conflict of the series revolves around the high-stakes, personal rivalry and ideological clash between Bhavani and Rudra. The stellar supporting cast also features Tanvi Azmi, Mahesh Manjrekar, Anshuman Pushkar, and Monica Panwar.

Speaking about the project, Tanya Bami, Netflix India Series Head, noted that Akka presents a refreshing world where women are not merely characters within a story, but the central epicentre of power. Director and writer Dharmaraj Shetty emphasized that the series provides a distinct lens to the gangster genre, utilizing an unconventional setting and dynamic characters to tell a larger-than-life story of ambition and relationships.
Keerthy Suresh shared that portraying Bhavani involved navigating the complex, grueling choices a woman has to make when pushed to extremes to safeguard her legacy, whereas Radhika Apte described Rudra as an unyielding character who refuses to be defined by circumstances and drives the narrative forward by challenging conventional structures.
The series is directed and written by Dharmaraj Shetty under the banner of YRF Entertainment, with Aditya Chopra, Yogendra Mogre, and Akshay Widhani serving as executive producers.
