This is the time when bookings are opening for the new Tata Sierra, which arrives invoking the history of the old Sierra. Attractive advertisements and heaps of favorable reviews are visible across all media nationwide.

All these reviews are created by people invited by Tata Motors. Therefore, you should not believe them blindly. Before buying this vehicle based on nostalgia, claiming the design is like the old Sierra, there are some things you need to note.

The first point is that the company is Tata Motors. There is a limit to the quality one can expect from Tata cars! If you buy the vehicle just because the design is good or it has a big touch screen, you will start experiencing headaches caused by the vehicle even before that initial curiosity fades. The design itself is a deception. They have simply painted the roof black to create a resemblance to the old Sierra. This is in place of the curved glass panel found in the old Sierra! We might let that slide, thinking it was done because the old design was only possible as there was no separate door to enter the second row. But doesn't it strike you at a glance that the current Sierra bears more resemblance to the Kia Syros, which failed in the market?

New Engines

A major feature of this new Sierra is the introduction of two new petrol engines: a Turbo Petrol engine and a standard non-turbo Petrol engine. In either case, remember that these are engines newly developed by Tata. No one knows what their capacity or lifespan will be in real conditions. We have yet to see how they will behave in "real life." Generally, while Turbo Petrol engines might get bookings during the initial hype, it is often observed that people later understand the reality, and bookings decline. The main reason is that the mileage seen in initial ads or reviews is not obtained in real life.

A turbocharger is a component that can cost a huge amount to repair. If you buy the vehicle intending to use it for the long term, you are likely to spend a significant amount on repairs once the warranty period is over.
