Travel demand for the Good Friday long weekend (April 3–6) is building earlier and stronger than a typical 3-day break, reinforcing a broader shift where Indians are increasingly opting for frequent long weekend trips across the country over fewer, longer vacations. The weekend is emerging as a high-intent travel window, with travellers planning earlier and booking faster.

Travellers planned the fun weeks ago

Travel intent picked up as early as late February, with flight searches rising nearly 75% above weekday average almost five weeks ahead of departure. Train bookings followed a two-phase pattern - an initial spike at the 60-day booking window, and a second, stronger surge in the past two weeks (~40% week-on-week growth). Even buses, typically last-minute, are seeing earlier traction, with bookings already up ~4× in the last two weeks.

Accommodations waited their turn — then stole the show

Stays are seeing the sharpest acceleration, with bookings doubling week-on-week through March and the highest volumes recorded in recent weeks. Search demand continues to rise, indicating strong last-mile momentum heading into the weekend.

Travellers are favouring short, high-efficiency trips, with strong demand across leisure and cultural destinations. Top flight destinations include Goa, Guwahati, Bhubaneswar, Kochi, Varanasi, Jaipur, Andaman, and Srinagar, while train and bus routes highlight dense intercity and getaway corridors. Emerging interest in routes such as Delhi to Reasi also reflects travellers combining pilgrimage with experiences like the Chenab Bridge.

Turns out, the road to inner peace has very good connectivity

Routes such as New Delhi to Rishikesh, New Delhi to Dharamshala, and Bangalore to Udupi indicate a growing preference for spiritual and wellness-led getaways. The presence of Delhi to Reasi (Vaishno Devi gateway) further highlights how travellers are blending leisure with spiritual intent.
